Bee Video

Kristen was stung by a wasp yesterday evening. She was outside with Paul and I heard screaming and crying inside the house. Apparently she hit the swing with her plastic bat and there was a wasp nest on the swing. It stung her right beside her eye. After medicine and watching Peter Pan, she felt much better. I felt so sorry for her. We kept asking her what happened and she kept saying "I don't know." Which she truly didn't. Life for a 3 year old can be tough and confusing. She kept saying while crying, "That's not very nice, they have to be nice to me."

Nags Head

Ever since Kristen saw Dora pick trash up on the beach she has wanted to go. We told her we would take her and we finally had a free weekend to do so. On Saturday we headed out early to Nags Head. Paul thought I had totally lost it when I told him we wouldn't be going to VA beach because I read they had to check the bacteria level everyday and if it was too high they would close the beach down. I wasn't going to put my feet in polluted water and I definitely wasn't going to let my children either. We didn't spend the night, we just went there on a day trip.

We got their about 9:30 am and went straight to the beach. Kristen loved the sand, but hated the water. Lauren loved the water, but hated the sand. Can I just say that the beach is not for anyone who suffers from any OCD tendencies, because the sand getting on the beach towel drove me CRAZY! I told Paul I wished someone could just carry me to the water, let me put my feet in and pick me back up and carry me out. Sand is not for me. We stayed on the beach until lunch time, then left and went to the DQ for a hot dog. Lauren was so exhausted. She couldn't hold her head up while eating. I meant to get a picture, but the flies we so bad that I found myself constantly waving while I was eating.

After lunch we went to a few shops and bought some souvenirs. Kristen picked out a butterfly ring and a purple dragon stuffed animal. Lauren got a t-shirt and a giraffe in a purse. She loves zippers. We then decided to drive out to Bodie Island to see the lighthouse since we had never seen an actual lighthouse. The lighthouse was under construction, so we just turned around and drove back. Before coming home we ate at Kill Devil Grill and it was absolutely great. Highly recommended. We really enjoyed our day vacation and are planning on going back next September and staying a week.

Here are some pictures from our trip.

Educational Therapy

Lauren started educational therapy on Thursday. The therapist is really nice and was actually involved in Lauren's initial evaluation to get her started with therapies through the county. She basically just got to know Lauren during the visit and asked me some questions. She really evaluated her. She asked her to perform simple tasks, say some words, color, find Kristen if she was hiding. She wants me to start a word diary for Lauren. One list is all of the things Lauren is saying, which she is attempting to say everything you say, especially if you ask her to. Then she wants me to start another list of words Lauren says by herself without being prompted. She said once Lauren has about 35-50 words banked (words she says without being prompted) she should then be able to start putting words together like Mommy cup. Overall it was a very good appointment. The therapist did say if Lauren continues to do so well she doesn't see herself being out here very long. She has definitely made great progress!

Fair

My mom, dad and aunt took Kristen and Lauren to the fair. They had a blast! Lauren even rode the rides and enjoyed it. They both got their faces painted and came home blow-up animals. Here are some pictures...
