Thumb Sucking Good

I guess Dallas got tired of his pacifier falling out of his mouth so he figured he would fix the problem.

Happy Easter

‎"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies: and whoever lives and believes in me will never die."
John 11:25 - 26

A hunting we will go...

We took the girls to an Easter egg hunt at a church we have been visiting. They heard the Easter story, got to swing a bat at a pinata (actually, only two kids got to swing the bat because the second little boy was quite aggressive and beat the poor little unicorn to it's death in only two swings), did a craft and hunted Easter eggs. Dallas slept the whole time, probably because it was loud with a bunch of kids yelling. It was a really nice day for hunting eggs.

Pinata time!

Surprisingly, not much paint on the hands.

Color Splash

On Friday night we dyed some Easter eggs, or as Kristen says, we dived some Easter eggs. I was glad this year the tablets actually dissolved. That's what happens when you read the directions and put the vinegar in it. Also, just in case anyone was wondering, it isn't toxic. When I put the cups on the table Lauren picked it up and took a drink. I guess it could be a little confusing. She did have a faint blue mustache. She also liked to bang her eggs together, so we had to throw most of her eggs away. Kristen was very particular with her eggs and really enjoyed it.

We did make a recipe that explains the Easter story quite well. You take a marshmallow, which represents Jesus. You dip it in butter and a cinnamon sugar mix, which represents the oils and spices that they put on his body. You seal the marshmallow in a crescent roll, which represents the cloth used to wrap Jesus' body in. You put them in the oven, which represents the tomb. When you take them out the marshmallow has melted and isn't inside, just like Jesus wasn't in the tomb. It was a good way to explain to the girls the Easter story, plus they were also very yummy. We also have the resurrection eggs, which we will do with the girls on Easter.

Don't they look Delicious!

And the marshmallow is gone!

Here is a video of Kristen explaining the Easter story.

Lions and Tigers and Bears...Oh My

On Friday we went to the zoo with Meme and Papaw. We had a great time and the girls really enjoyed it.

Here are some of my favorite quotes from the day:

*I didn't tell the girls we were going to the zoo I just told them we were going somewhere special and it was a surprise. Kristen said "Are we going to Disney World."

*We smelled something very bad and Kristen said "I think it might be a stunk." (instead of skunk)

*We had just went to the petting zoo and Kristen wasn't a very big fan. The animals kept trying to grab the cup. When we went on the train ride we went into the gated part where the animals roam free around you. Kristen asked me if they were going to be mean and I told her no. The lady said over the intercom said that a particular animal can run up to 45 miles an hour to escape danger. Kristen looked up at me with complete panic in her eyes and said "These animals are dangerous."

Here are some pictures of our day at the zoo.

I think my girls are the only ones in the world that pick the seat on a Merry-Go-Round instead of the fun animals that go up and down.

The flamingos were Kristen's favorite although she keeps calling them the swans.

The giraffes were Lauren's favorite. If you ask Lauren how a giraffe goes she will stick her tongue out as far as she can. They did have really long tongues. I think they were my favorite as well.

The girls and I on the dangerous safari ride.

All Smiles

The birds were my least favorite, but Kristen and Lauren liked feeding them. Both girls got to hold the stick with the bird on it. It actually nibbled at Lauren's finger. It must be because she is so sweet.

Zzzzz's

Since my last post about Dallas' sleeping, or lack thereof, things have gotten a lot better. I almost hesitate to write this post for fear that I might just jinx myself. I am not sure what is working. Maybe it is a combination of everything I am currently doing or maybe he just had to get acclimated to his new environment. I am sure it was a complete shock entering into this very busy world. But for right now things are going good. In fact, these last two nights he has slept all the way through and not woke up for his middle of the night feeding. That meant these last two days I have actually showered before lunch time. He still eats about every 3 hours, which totally throws off having a schedule because he never eats at the same time on two consecutive days. I am hoping with him sleeping through the night (hold breath) that I can get him on a better schedule.

Here are some random pictures taken from this week.

They all enjoyed looking out the window, even Dallas.

Isn't this the cutest smile in the world.

Lauren trying, but just not getting it.

Wide Awake.

Enjoying his new swing.
